“ I’ve never been in a hospital that helped me that much. Every person cared for me and it felt good to know that I meant a lot to someone. During my stay, a healing took place, and that was amazing.”
—A.M., former patient of New Directions
New Directions currently accepts Medicare and Medicaid. Average length of stay is between 7 and 14 days depending on the patient’s need and progress. If you have questions or to make a referral, you may call the unit directly at 478-448-4111 or fax information to 478-448-4110.
EMERGENCY - The Emergency Department at Dodge County Hospital is open around the clock to treat serious injuries and medical emergencies. A new screening process is in place to decrease overcrowding in the ER as well as the length of time a patient has to wait to be seen. The process will also assist in decreasing the costs incurred in dealing with non-emergency visits. Under the new screening process, a patient will be evaluated by the physician on duty. If a true medical emergency exists, the patient will be treated, stabilized, and then admitted or transferred to another facility as necessary.
ICU - The staff of Dodge County Hospital (DCH) works toward providing the highest level of patient care for those patients requiring continuous observation and treatment. We also place emphasis on assisting patient families through what can be a very stressful time.
OB/GYN - Our prenatal area is a special environment where physicians and staff, sensitive to the uniquely feminine needs of obstetrics, gynecology and other related healthcare disciplines, work with empathy and sensitivity. This service includes labor and delivery, nursery and postpartum.
MEDICAL SURGERY - The Med/Surg Department is located on the first floor of the hospital just inside the east entrance, and provides around-the-clock patient care. The patient population consists of infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Patient problems commonly managed include cardiovascular diseases, diagnostic work-ups and infectious processes, gastrointestinal disorders, genito-urinary disorders, neurological disorders, oncology disorders, orthopedic disorders, respiratory illnesses, telemetry monitoring, diabetes and cancer. Recovering surgical patients are also attended in the Med/Surg Unit.
SURGICAL SERVICES - Ambulatory or outpatient surgery has increased in popularity since its general introduction in the 1970s. Today, over 65% of all surgical procedures performed in the United States, including those at Dodge County Hospital, are performed on an outpatient basis. No overnight hospital stay is required so the patient returns home the same day.
